Greek Genocide Recognition
Campaign Continues

Sons of Pericles Supreme President Paul Pavlakos

Since 2017, the Sons of Pericles has been advocating for Greek
Genocide recognition. Supreme President Paul Pavlakos continues
to present on the Genocide to increase awareness.
"As a member of the young Hellenic community, I think modern relevance is the key to getting our youth to understand these
things," he said. "This was not a regional genocide, this was a genocide of the Greek people and of the Christian people."
As legislative sessions across several states and the federal
level are in process, the Sons of Pericles has drafted a letter for
senators and a resolution to recognize the Greek Genocide of 19141923. For more information, visit sonsofpericles.org/recognition.

Our year continues to roll forward quickly. Spring is here,
and the Supreme Convention is on the horizon. The Sons of
Pericles continues to aim to meet the goals it has set and so
far has succeeded in making a difference in the community.
In our athletic endeavors, our new system of establishing
regional events hosted by local chapters has been a resounding success. Greeks in Seattle and Greeks in Charlotte each
re-invigorated their respective community, motivated the
local chapter to continue its growth, and raised money for
the JED Foundation. Because of these efforts and more, our
fundraising goal to raise $12,500 for
the JED Foundation is on track. After
starting off the year strong with a
$15,000 donation to sponsor Pericles,
a service dog for a veteran, we are
proud of our organization's effort to
support charitable causes.
Additionally, our Brotherhood
continues to grow stronger with reactivations and new chapters established across the country. Our Rising Sons program
continues to be a resounding success. Leaders from across
the organization are being placed on national committees to
develop skills and aid the Order. We celebrated our participants in February by hosting them at our inaugural Rising
Sons Conference at the Diakonia Center in Salem, S.C.
Finally, and maybe most importantly, the Sons of
Pericles has continued to lead the fight to promote Hellenic
heritage and culture. This effort is highlighted by our
advocacy for formal recognition of the Greek Genocide.
During the year, we have made tremendous progress, holding educational presentations in New York, New Jersey,
Pennsylvania, and Illinois. Additionally, we have received
a Proclamation from Governor Phil Murphy of New Jersey
recognizing the Genocide, and we are steadfast in our
advocacy for formal recognition in the Florida and New
York State Senates.
Through all these efforts, we stand firm in the idea that
the youth of the Hellenic community is guided by our values. We ask each of you to support our causes because the
cultivation of the future must be supported in the present.

Inaugural Rising Sons
Conference Held
In February, in coordination with the Metropolis of Atlanta, Sons
of Pericles members traveled to the Diakonia Retreat Center for a
weekend of service and brotherhood. As part of the Rising Sons
initiative, the first Rising Sons Conference featured a weekend of
professional development, strategic planning for the Order, and
beautifying the campgrounds for future use. The Sons Service
project saw to it the cabins were inspected for proper use, the
property was rid of garbage, light fixtures were changed and
properly working, recreational facilities and storage units built
and upgraded, and equipment accounted for and stored properly.
