Residents, Elementary Schoolers
Team-up to Donate to Children's
Hospital
A service project that began in April 2019 to benefit the patients of St. Louis
Children's Hospital came to fruition in November.
Residents of AHEPA 53 III & IV teamed-up with the
third-grade class at St. John's Lutheran School in Arnold,
Mo., to donate 57 handmade fleece blankets, seven additional baby quilts (donated from other sources), two large
boxes of art supplies and five boxes of children's books,
to the hospital during the second week of November.
It was quite the collaborative process.
The residents gathered during multiple blanket making events, as well as on their own time, to
trim, pin and cut the fleece material. The
St. John's students then visited the residents for some "Blanket Tying Parties,"
where they were able to visit the residents, and enjoy snacks and music. It was
during these parties that the residents and
students worked together to complete the
final step of tying the blankets. In addition to the blankets, everyone helped
collect art supplies and children's books.

Troops, Hear from
Mayor

Residents gathered to learn about what Blue
Star Mothers do for the community, veterans,
and our troops. Operation Care Package was
accepting donations to send care packages to
those deployed. The community had a box
for items that residents wish to donate to the
cause. They also had a separate event to make
cards to send with the boxes.
The residents also gathered for a State of the
City address with the mayor of Mishawaka, Ind.
A Q&A session followed the mayor's address.

Dixson Promoted to
Regional Manager

AHEPA Management Company congratulates
Colleen Dixson who became the regional
manager for Region 6 in
December 2019. Colleen
recently served AMC as
area manager of Region 6,
a promotion she received
in 2016.
Colleen began her
career at AMC in January
2009 as a property manager at AHEPA 89,
Boardman, Ohio.
Colleen has been instrumental in providing
outstanding service and leadership to our residents in Region 6. The company wishes her
continued success.

AHEPA 60 had its annual breast cancer presentation/walk. There was a representative from the Susan G. Komen foundation for our sixth year. She helped educate
the residents about the importance
of getting yearly mammograms.
She spoke about her journey as an
11-year survivor. Some of the residents shared their own stories or the
stories of family members.
At the end of the presentation,
the residents did one lap around the
parking lot to show their support.
They also give our residents small piggy banks to collect change over the year
for their donations for the following year. This is something the community looks
forward to each year.
