began with President Kostarides introducing David Clegg, a consultant, who
made a presentation from the Book
Race for Relevance, about a Board of
Governance. Members must believe in
the mission and goals of the corp. but
each generation has different ideas.
He stressed to empower the CEO,
make radical changes, overhaul and
market. Boards that are too large perform poorly; small boards are more
efficient. Micromanaging is not beneficial, and after a 5-10 year period,
there are challenges. Outside members are possible. Committees handle
responsibilities and chairs should be
staff personnel. ANHC has too many
committees and should be focused on
achievable objectives.

Supreme President Anthony
Kouzounis was present and was introduced by President Kostarides. The
supreme president extolled how proud
he is of ANHC and its commitment. He
thanked us for all our hard work.
Kostarides began the Officer
Reports segment and spoke about Mr.
Clegg's evaluation for two years and
about 'strategic planning' for ANHC and
AMC. He cited the local bylaws need for
revision; the need to utilize tax credits;
and compliance issues of charitable
foundations with IRS and secretary of
state regulations.
Treasurer Nick Kallan presented the
Statement of Revenues and Expenses
and the balance sheet of ANHC through
March 31.

ANHC Director of Development
Demetri Damaskos reported on projects under construction, undergoing
refinancing, and 9% tax credit financing
for acquisitions. Three offers on properties had been made but none accepted.
AMC Vice President Stefani Smyrnis
Calderon reported two Area Managers
were added and two properties opened,
Tallmadge, Ohio and Citronelle, Ala.
Penelope 54-II, Houston, is expected
to open at full occupancy in June. A
revised Preventive Management Plan
is in effect and annual conferences for
Property Managers and biennial for
Maintenance persons were held.
George Nardone began the
Department Head reports with the
Finance Department. As chair, he
covered the Audit Committee report.
Steve Photiades presented the
Budget Report for ANHC and AMC.
And Joe O'Neil gave the Information
Technology report
Chris Kapetanakos, Growth and
Planning Department head, gave
reports of Greening/Energy Savings
and Organization Review Committees,
and the Long Range Strategic
Planning Committee and the Property
Acquisition Committee
The Administrative Department,
under George Anagnostos, reported
on the Nominations Committee; the
Orientation Committee; the Human
Resources Committee and the Public
Relations Committee.
The Legal Department, under
Louis Caligas presented the Bylaws
Committee, the Ethics Committee and
the Grievance Committee reports
Nick Kallan, the Foundations and
Gifting Department head, presented
