THE AHEPAN ยท Summer 2014

The new Meals of Honor float used in the 2012 and 2013 parades.

Pensacola AHEPA Family Spearheads
Veterans Day Parade
The AHEPA Family of Pensacola, Fla.
has spearheaded the Veterans Day
Parade the past two years.
President George Dodge of Chapter
296 has been the chairman of the 2013
parade and co-chaired the previous
year. He practically single-handedly
accomplished the production of both,
which featured one float the first year
and two the past year.
Through his and the chapter's
efforts the parade has been revived and
the last was the biggest ever witnessed.
In addition to the floats the chapter
had the lead car with its name emblazoned on it.
The second float represented the
Meals of Honor program which the

chapter has championed. The program
recycles used electronic equipment,
which finances the purchase of
VitaMeals, distributed to homeless and
needy veterans. Brother Jodie Butler
originated the program and it has
spread nationwide now.
The original first float, used again,
depicts the five objects of the AHEPA
family.
The Gulf Coast Veterans Advocacy
Council, sponsors of the parade,
honored the chapter for its efforts and
two floats.
The chapter thus has been instrumental in organizing the parade and
co-incidentally bringing the AHEPA
name to the Gulf Coast.
