AHEPA FAMILY CHAPTER NEWS
District 10
AHEPA Chapter 195,
Ann Arbor, Mich.
The chapter commemorated Greek
Independence Day with a ceremony held at
the Statue of Ypsilanti, located in Ypsilanti,
Mich., March 23, 2014. Supreme Governor
Tony Manolias and District 10 Governor
George Contis attended. Chapter 195 Vice
President Avraam Piniatoglou kicked-off the
ceremony, Father Nick Kotsis gave a blessing,
and Brother Nick Stamos shared his inspirational words. Many brothers also marched in
the annaul Greek Independence Parade in
Detroit. The chapter is also proud of Brother
Vasilis Pliakis, who was ordained a Deacon
by Metropolitan Nicholas on March 30. Other successful chapter events held were its first biannual lamb luncheon on May 5, and its
biggest fundraiser of the year, the chapter's annual golf outing which benefits the chapter's scholarship program.
District 12
Hoosier District 12
Outgoing AHEPA District 12 Governor Matthew Kochevar graduated and
received his law degree from Valparaiso University on May 18, 2014. Matthew
was a past recipient of an AHEPA scholarship and a Philhellene who became
very active in the AHEPA at a very young age. He completed his second term
as District 12 governor at the age of 25. In addition to serving as district governor, Brother Kochevar served as secretary of the Supreme Convention and is
currently chairman of the standing national Legislative Committee and chairman of the standing District Governors Committee. The Brethren of District 12
wish Brother Kochevar the best personally and professionally. Axios!
AHEPA Chapter 78, Merrillville/Gary, Ind.
Ross Township Trustee Joe Shudick presented Chapter 78 President
John Demetrakis with a Certificate of Appreciation for the chapter's
volunteerism, contributions, and dedication to assisting the needy and
senior citizens throughout the community.
