AHEPA FAMILY CHAPTER NEWS
District 1
Mother Lodge Chapter 1, Atlanta, Ga.
In February, the chapter initiated 13 men into the Order between the
ages of 30 and 50. In addition, the chapter presented service pins to
deserving brothers. Chapter President Petro Kacur oversaw the initiation
and service pins ceremonies.
AHEPA Chapter 346, Knoxville, Tenn.
The chapter donated $2,650 to the Sunday School and Greek School programs of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Knoxville, from proceeds
raised at its annual fall pancake breakfast. For the past seven years, the
chapter has donated 100 percent of the proceeds from the breakfast to
these programs, totaling $12,550. The brothers are proud to offer their
continued support to the administrators, teachers, and students of these
important programs while also supporting AHEPA's pillars of philanthropy,
education, and promotion of Hellenism.
District 2
AHEPA Chapter 18, West Palm Beach, Fla.
Through its charitable entity, the chapter awarded donations of $1,500 each ($4,500 total) to: Family Promises North, an agency
that serves homeless families in West Palm Beach; Catholic Charities: Human Trafficking Unit, which assists with the rehabilitation of Palm Beach County victims; and Speak Up for Kids, Guardian ad Litem advocacy group for abused, abandoned and
neglected children in Palm Beach County.
AHEPA Chapter 523, Hollywood, Fla.
For the sixth straight year the chapter sponsored Team Leslie's Angels in the
"Bike MS: Breakaway to Key Largo," hosted by the National Multiple Sclerosis
Society's South Florida Chapter, March 3-4, 2018. In addition to sponsoring
Leslie's Angels, the chapter had four members riding with the team: Gerry
Cullen, George Nomikos, George Palaidis, and Tim Tsiotsias, with Victor
Lehoczy riding for the Walgreens Cycling team. Our riders rode distances from
50 miles to 175 miles over the two-day event. With the help of the chapter,
Team Leslie's Angels was able to fundraise almost $21,000 for this year's ride.
The event raised more than $500,000 toward the fight against MS. Pictured
