AHEPA FAMILY CHAPTER NEWS
Flower City Chapter 67, Rochester, N.Y.
The chapter, and the AHEPA Rochester Foundation, presented $8,000 in
scholarship awards at a reception held January 7, 2018. The recipients
were: Alexandra Case, Emily Dulieu, Melina Sidou and Nicholas Sidou, who
received the Dean Zutes Memorial Scholarships; Briana Elizabeth Evevsky,
who received the Papapanu-Dedetsinas Memorial Scholarship; Anna
Kostakis, who received the Panagiota E. Tonias Scholarship; Daniel Matthew
Mot, who received the Drs. Destounis and Matos Scholarship; and Marianthi
Stakos, who received the AHEPA 67 Scholarship. Since 1992, the chapter
proudly has awarded $156,750 in scholarships.
Constantine Cassis Chapter 170, Hempstead, N.Y.
The chapter presented its Constantine and Carol Cassis Scholarship
Awards at its Easter Glendi, April 17, 2018. The recipients were: Nicole
Ayvas, Diane Hadjiyiane, and Grace Yeostros. The chapter congratulates
the recipients and greatly thanks the Cassis and Cassimates families for
their incredible continuous support that make the event a success.
AHEPA Chapter 319, Port Jefferson, N.Y.
The chapter proudly hosted a free Lenten luncheon at the Greek Orthodox Church of the
Assumption community center as a way to give back to the community. The brothers prepared soup. Father Jim Calogredes spoke about fasting and its significance, and Brother Nick
Calogredes spoke about AHEPA and its work in the community, to an audience of more than
100 persons. The chapter donated the leftover 30 gallons of soup to a local homeless shelter.
AHEPA Chapter 405, New Rochelle, N.Y.
More than 50 Ahepans, Sons of Pericles members, and scouts, attended a New York Yankees game, May 5, 2018. During the game,
the Yankees welcomed the chapter on the outfield Jumbotron during the third inning. The chapter appreciated the recognition,
which it believes is the first time AHEPA received acknowledgement at the new Yankee Stadium.
