AHEPA FAMILY CHAPTER NEWS
AHEPA Chapter 98, New Haven, Conn.
Past District 7 Governor Peter Stamos received his 50-year service pin at the chapter's
initiation ceremony, April 30, 2018. Chapter President Vagos Hadjimichael Hadjimichael
gratefully acknowledged the dedication of Brother Stamos. Past Supreme Counselor
Gregory Stamos presented Brother Peter with his service pin, while flanked by his
son, Paul Stamos, and his son-in-law, Terry Heath, one of the new initiates. At the ceremony, six men were initiated, and two former members were reinstated into the Order.
Supreme Governor Jack Isaac oversaw the ceremony, and then-District 7 Governor
Gregory Simones administered the Oath. Congratulations to: Michael Albanis, William
Cambras, Tony Delos, Terry Heath, Dino Maniatis, and Mike Suffredini, and welcome
back, Ilias Diamantis and Tony Antonakis. This is the third consecutive year the chapter increased its active membership.
District 10
Automotive District 10, Michigan
The district wrapped-up a busy year with its convention, held in Ann Arbor,
May 19, 2018. AHEPA Chapter 195 and DOP Knossos Chapter 174 hosted the
event. The district announced it has collected more than $17,000 and delivered
7,776 gallons of milk to the victims of the Flint Water Crisis. Another delivery
occured in June. The district also acknowledged Chapter 141, Flint, for initiating and reinstating a total of 10 members. Many brothers visited the Michigan
State Capitol, Lansing, March 22, to show their appreciation to state legislators
for passing a resolution to recognize Greek Independence Day in Michigan.
Many thanks to State House Representative and Brother Chris Afendoulis for
his gracious hospitality and for co-sponsoring the resolution.
AHEPA Chapter 195, Ann Arbor, Mich.
The brothers prepared a fantastic dinner for the community
of Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in celebration of
the ordination of Fr. Alexandru Radulescu. In addition, the
chapter commemorated Greek Independence Day at the
Statue of Ypsilanti with remarks from Chapter President Costas
Boutsikakis, Father Nick Kotsis, and Brother Nicholas Stamos,
who provided a moving account of Greece's fight for independence. In April, the chapter raised funds for its scholarship
fund by participating in a four-day charity poker event and
held its biannual Lamb Luncheon. Supreme Governor Craig
Theros, a member of the chapter, expressed his appreciation
to all who donated to his fundraising campaign in the name of
"2014 Members' Scholarship Fund," as part of his running in the the "Original" Athens Marathon in November. The fundraising
drive raised $950. Finally, the chapter congratulates its newest brothers: Stathis Govatsos, Dimitris Roumanis, John Hauck Jr.,
Nicholas Zingar and Nicos Stamatopoulos.
