It's hard for me to believe what has happened to us as a nation thus far in 2020.
If we were together today, I would want to shake your hand and ask you, "How
are you doing? Is your family well? How did you get through these past few months?
As of this writing, AHEPA Management Company, our residents, and employees
have weathered the storm and things are returning to normal. Or should I say the
new normal?
I cannot express how grateful I am to be part of an organization with such great,
dedicated people. During the past several months, I have worked closely with several housing board presidents, executive board members,
resource center employees and our property associates.
There were many days we were venturing into unchartered
territory to solve problems I could have never imagined and
then days I would receive correspondence with pictures of
community employees' firefighters, police officers, hospital
workers, restaurant owners, volunteers and board members
donating their time, food and supplies to our residents. As
we work through this pandemic everyone came together
to help each other and have risen to the occasion to deliver the best version of
themselves.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Looking forward to the rest of 2020, and next year, we have a lot going on
at AMC. We are working diligently for the future by applying for new 202 developments to continue our mission of building affordable low-income housing for
seniors across the nation. As you know, HUD has opened up the 202 grant program
again, and we are looking to submit applications to build two new properties.
Today's program is a bit of a twist from the past. Now, HUD looks for tax credit
investors to help fund properties of the future to stretch the available HUD dollars.
This is an amazing opportunity to continue to grow your program or to start new
housing developments for the first time.
Our second initiative is taking advantage of HUD's RAD for PRAC opportunity.
This program will allow certain Section 202 properties to access private capital and
conduct repairs and improvements, all while maintaining ownership in the properties. It is designed to sustain properties in the marketplace that could use funds for
upgrades and improvements to extend their life. This will allow AHEPA to continue
to provide affordable housing for our nation's seniors. By combining two or more
properties into one financial transaction (refinancing), you can take advantage of
operational efficiencies and improve your residents' overall experience.

AHEPA Housing Rises Up to the
Task
Making and Distributing Face Masks in
Ohio
A resident of AHEPA 63 Apartments in Akron,
Ohio, and the Akron property's service coordinator, Anna Vasserman, made cloth face
masks that the Board of Directors of AHEPA 59
Apartments in Canton, Ohio, purchased for its
residents.
"Another great day, seeing the smiles on
the residents' faces," Teresa ZimmermanSchlabach, property manager of AHEPA 59
Apartments said. "They were so happy. We
appreciate the AHEPA 59 board."
