Housing Program
Honors St. Louis
Pioneers
AHEPA 53, Inc. Apartments, St. Louis, Mo.,
honored the pioneer vision of Brothers George
Demetre and George Leontsinis, who were
instrumental in the development of the first
AHEPA Apartments in early 1980. Brother
Demetre was a HUD employee who steered
the St. Louis Chapter toward the completion
of the first housing facility, which eventually
lead to the creation of the AHEPA National
Housing Corporation by Past Supreme
President Nick Smyrnis. Brother Leontsinis
was the attorney for the first project and provided guidance to the chapter leading to the
successful completion of the first affordable
housing building for the elderly.

Chapter 110 Hosts Annual Picnic for
Senior Residents
Rose of New England Chapter 110, Norwich, Conn., hosted its annual picnic for
residents of the chapter's Senior Citizens Complex on Hamilton Avenue, August
27, 2016. More than 120 residents and guests enjoyed a beautiful day at the
Picnic Pavilion. The Norwich AHEPA family has hosted this picnic for 27 years.
AHEPA and Daughters of Penelope volunteers served hot dogs, hamburgers,
and traditional picnic fare. A "Mister Softee" ice cream truck stopped by and the
residents were treated to ice cream sundaes.
Past Supreme President Dr. John Grossomanides and Brother George
Maistrelis spearheaded cooking duties. Thanks to: Past Grand President AnnaHelene Grossomanides, Virginia Argiros, Liz Louziotis, and Bob and Kay Booth,
Peter Patsouris, John Louziotis, Tony Petros and Joe Hominski.
ANHC Grant Funds Pensacola
Scholarships
A grant from the AHEPA National Housing Corporation helped
to fund scholarships presented by the AHEPA-Pensacola Chapter
296 Charitable Foundation in May. The Foundation awarded $500
scholarships to: Alex Roumbos, Maria Organt, Yianni Whisler,
Peter Staviski and Irangel Castro-Puello. This was the second
consecutive year Irangel Castro-Puello was awarded a scholarship.
Foundation President Chief George Dodge presents a scholarship to
Maria Organt accompanied by Foundation Secretary Ernie Harageones.
