AHEPA Chapter 98, New Haven, Conn., and AHEPA
Chapter 99, Stamford, Conn.
The chapters celebrated their 90th anniversaries jointly, October 29,
2016, Norwalk, Conn. More than 160 attendees celebrated and were
entertained by Greek American Comedian Ellen Karis and George
Karatzas and his Orchestra. Supreme President Andrew Zachariades
attended and presented on AHEPA's history and its relevance today. The
accomplishments of the chapters were lauded, including: Chapter 99's
ongoing cultural series and significant contributions to help rebuild Saint
Nicholas National Shrine; and Chapter 98 being the first chapter to have
two supreme presidents, Constantine P. Verinis and George J. Margoles. Chapter 98 also backed legislation to provide federal
funds for Cooleys Anemia research and supported fundraising drives for scholarship and the University of Connecticut Hellenic
Studies Center. The evening's net proceeds benefited the AHEPA-St. Nicholas Shrine Capital Campaign drive. (L-R): Past

AHEPA Chapter 195, Ann Arbor, Mich.
The Ann Arbor community came together at the statue of Ypsilanti, to commemorate
Oxi Day, Oct. 30. Chapter President Costas Boutsikakis kicked-off the event, Brother
Father Vasilios Pliakas gave the blessing and Brother Nicholas Stamos provided a
historical account of Oxi Day. Also, the chapter held its biannual Lamb Luncheon to
benefit St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Oct. 23. Reflecting back to AHEPA Day
in May, the chapter presented scholarship awards of $1,000 each to Athena Chapekis
and Frank Bairactaris.
