AHEPA FAMILY CHAPTER NEWS
District 20
El Camino Real District 20
The district held its Fall Leadership workshop at St. Sophia Cathedral in Los
Angeles, Oct. 14, 2017. The workshop included discussion about administrative
topics, such as membership development and chapter officer duties. In addition,
several Veterans were honored, and
Supreme President Carl Hollister officiated over the initiation of a new
member of Chapter 223, San Diego.
Five Supreme Lodge officers accompanied Supreme President Hollister to
the workshop.
District 23
Lord Byron Chapter CJ1 and DOP Mycenae Chapter 220, Toronto, Ontario
The chapters sponsored the District 23 Mid-Year Conference at the Toronto Don Valley Hotel, October 14, 2017. District 23 Governor
Emmanuel Constas, Chapter President Anastasios Moussas, and Conference Co-Chair Peter Amanatidis worked closely with DOP
District 23 Governor Xanthe Vafopoulou, Chapter President Eleni Agas, and Conference Co-Chair Nancy Barkley to organize the
conference. District 23 Vice President of Hellenism Byron Yankou announced an AHEPA Hellenic History Tournament will be held
in Toronto, April 14, 2018, in cooperation with with York University and the Hellenic History Chair, Professor Anastasios Gekas.
Canadian President Chris Agririou and Chairman of AHEPA National Board of Trustees and Past Canadian President Nick Aroutzidis
offered greetings.
District 25
AHEPA Lepanto Chapter HJ18, Nafpaktos, Greece
The chapter is raising funds to help Holy Transfiguration Monastery, located in the Nafpaktos area, "go green" with the installation
of a full photovoltaic system. The system's total cost will be €110.000 (about $130,000). It is estimated the photovoltaic project will
save the monastery about €40.000 annually (about $48,000). The energy cost savings will be diverted to the monastery's philanthropic outreach as well as its radio station, library, and youth activities.
District 26
AHEPA Chapter CJ6, Vancouver, British Columbia
The AHEPA family of British Columbia served free lamb lunches to the residents
of St. Barbara's Estia, an elderly Hellenic housing facility, Sept. 23, 2017. The residents enjoyed the food and conversation. AHEPA and the Daughters of Penelope
aspire to repeat this community service outreach a few times a year. The chapter
thanks volunteers: John Alevras, Reema Alevras, Ilias Tsiotis, Bernadette Falias,
Nick Liapis, and Past Canadian President George Vassilas.
