District 13 Hosts Annual Sports Banquet
AHEPA District 13 held its 48th Annual Sports Award Banquet,
June 5, 2015. More than 100 Greek American student-athletes
were honored for their participation and achievement in local
community athletics. Three hundred people attended.
In addition to each student-athlete getting a plaque for
their athletic accomplishments, $8,000 in scholarships were
awarded to 13 athletes. The Sons of Pericles also presented a
$500 scholarship. In addition, seven special memorial awards
were presented for Outstanding Athletic Achievement.
Dave Eanet, WGN sports and the voice of the
Northwestern University Wildcats, served as emcee.

THE AHEPAN ยท Fall 2015
Former Professional Hockey Player Blake Geoffrion was
the Keynote Speaker. Geoffrion played for the Nashville
Predators and Montreal Canadians, and as a collegiate
player, won the Hobey Baker Award as the nation's top college player. AHEPA appreciated the participation of Dave
and Blake at the event. Supreme Athletic Director Louis
Atsaves also addressed the audience.
The work of Committee Chairman Chris Atsaves and the
committee of Frank Korbos, Nick Lamnatos, Larry Poullman
and Peter Lekas to make the event a success was appreciated.
