AHEPA FAMILY CHAPTER NEWS

District 12
Chapter 78, Gary/Merrillville, Ind.
The Brothers volunteered their time at the
local Salvation Army to help distribute gifts
to children that were donated from various individuals and corporations via the
Salvation Army Angel Tree program, Dec.
18, 2014. The chapter collected enough
money from donors to purchase gifts for 50
children. All together, the Salvation Army
was able to get enough donated toys to help 600-plus families or the equivalent of
1,600-plus children. Brothers Pete Murdakes and Nick Gianikas coordinated the effort.

Chapter 157, Hammond, Ind.
NWI Times newspaper featured Brother George Nastav in its series, "Remembering
Korea." Brother Nastav was a machinist mate third class and served aboard the USS
Princeton during the Korean War. He is a past Chapter 157 president and very active
Ahepan who volunteers countless hours to help at Chapter 157's bingo in Hammond.

District 13
West Suburban Chapter 202, Oakbrook, Ill.
The chapter hosted a Christmas party where
the brothers honored Past Chapter President
Angelo Giannakopoulos for his outstanding
excellence in leadership and devotion to the
Order, Dec. 16, 2014. The chapter also presented 20, 25, 30, and 40-year service pins to
deserving members. Past Supreme President
A. Steve Betzelos, Supreme Vice President John Galanis, Supreme Governor
Nick Kavadas, National Auditor William Albanos, District 13 Gov. George Miller,
and District 13 Secretary Themis Frangos attended.

AHEPA Chapter 260, Chicago
Since 2007, the chapter has awarded approximately 40 scholarships at a value of nearly
$40,000. Last year, the chapter had its best year,
awarding $10,500 in scholarships. The deadline
to apply for 2015 scholarship awards is May

Indianapolis, Ind.
The chapter celebrated the 92nd birthday of the oldest living AHEPA Past
Supreme President, Nick Smyrnis, Jan.
13, 2014. PSP Smyrnis is also the
founder of AHEPA National Housing
Program and the former CEO of the
AHEPA Management Company, Inc.
On hand to celebrate with Brother
Smyrnis was Supreme President
Phillip Frangos, Supreme Treasurer
Tom Gober, Supreme Governor
Nick Kavadas, District 12 Gov. Sam
Benjamin, and many other past district
12 officers and current chapter officers.
Earlier in the day, Supreme President
Frangos toured the AHEPA National
Housing Corporation headquarters in
Fishers, Ind., with AHEPA Housing
President Angelo Kostarides.

District 17
Chapter 145, Denver, Colo.
The chapter hosted Supreme President
Phillip Frangos, Dec. 16, 2014. The
chapter held initiations and committed
to sending two young Greek Americans
to the AHEPA Journey to Greece
Program. It also will work to raise
funds for the Saint Nicholas National
Shrine campaign.
