AHEPA FAMILY CHAPTER NEWS
District 2
George Washington Chapter 16, Tarpon Springs, Fla.
The chapter sponsored its 10th Annual "Super Bowl" Golf Tournament
at Tarpon Springs Golf Club. The team of Alex Mihopoulos, Jimmy
Kaperouliopis, Jim Salivaras and Frank Touloumis captured first place
with a seven-under score. Forty-four golfers participated. Brother Michael
Pantel chaired the event. Golfers were treated to a "wild game" dinner at
the AHEPA Home following the tournament.
Space Coast Chapter 401, Melbourne, Fla.
Brother Chris Kitsopoulos returned to Washington, D.C. after 60 years
as part of a select group of veterans chosen by Space Coast Honor
Flight, Melbourne, Fla., to honor their military service and pay homage to the fallen at Washington's key national memorials. The trip was
particularly nostalgic for Kitsopoulos, who was stationed at Ft. McNair,
Washington, D.C., as a Presidential Honor Guard during the Korean War.
Much of his duties centered around ceremonies at Arlington National
Cemetery. During this auspicious event, Brother Kitsopoulos was
bestowed with the special honor and privilege to place a wreath
at the cemetery's Tomb
of the Unknown Soldier.
Brother Kitsopoulos is a
past president of AHEPA
Chapter 39, Haverhill,
Mass., and has been a
member of Chapter 401
for the past 22 years. The
Honor Flight was a oncein-a-lifetime privilege
and one filled with deep
pride for his past service.

Chapter Vice President Jim Paliouras shared
the Vasilopita at St. Barbara Greek Orthodox
Church, with his brothers, including Brother
Hon. Nick Galifianakis, former U.S. representative (1967 to 1973). Brother Nick, an AHEPA
Life Member, is also a veteran of the United
States Marine Corps, former North Carolina
State assemblyman, and uncle to actor, Zach
Galifianakis.
