AHEPA FAMILY CHAPTER NEWS
District 6
Flower City Chapter 67, Rochester, N.Y.
The chapter awarded $7,000 in scholarships to eight students at
a Jan. 10, 2016 presentation at the AHEPA 67 Apartments. Valenti
Marou, Anna Kostakis, and Patrick J. Manou each received a $1,500
Dean Zutes Memorial Scholarship; Peter N. Matos received a $500
Papapanu-Dedetsinas Memorial Scholarship; Paul A. Matos received
a $500 Panagiota E. Tonias Scholarship; Sebastian C. Mot received a
$500 Drs. Destounis and Matos Scholarship; and Daniel M. Mot and
Nicole Naselaris each received a $500 AHEPA 67 Scholarship. Since
1992, the chapter has awarded $137,250 in scholarships.
Trojan Chapter 306, Troy, N.Y.
The chapter has experienced a revitalization, having
been recognized by Empire District 6 as one of the fastest-growing chapters in the district. Newly-elected officers
are: Steve Bobarakis, president; Tom Suraci, vice president; Mike Krumpholz, treasurer; and Chris Cholakis,
secretary. Among its activities include: awarding a $1,000
scholarship to Joanna Dafniotis, who is in her second
year at Holy Cross College, and organizing two successful
breakfast events to donate $2,000 to help rebuild for St.
Nicholas National Shrine at the World Trade Center.
Evzone Chapter 405, New Rochelle, N.Y.
The chapter honored Brother Bill Zegras, a distinguished former senior corporate executive, three-time president of New Rochelle's
Holy Trinity Church, and 50-year Ahepan, with its 13th Legend/Lifetime Award, Dec. 5, 2015, at the Westchester Country Club, Rye,
N.Y. More than 200 persons attended, including Supreme President John Galanis and Grand President Connie Pilallis. In addition,
the chapter initiated nine men into the Order as part of its Zegras Initiation Class, bringing its membership to 175. The chapter also
introduced Columbia Florist, represented by managing partner, Connie Proios, as the chapter's new official florist.
