AHEPA FAMILY NEWS AHEPA Family Leaders Meet with Top Diplomats of U.S., Greece, and Cyprus AHEPA Supreme President Anthony Kouzounis met with top diplomats of the United States, Greece, and Cyprus during events held September 12 and 13, 2013, in Washington, DC. The meetings, held with newly-confirmed American Ambassador to Greece David D. Pearce, Ambassador of Greece to the United States Christos P. Panagopoulos, and Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the United States George Chacalli, were made as the supreme president commences his term. Daughters of Penelope Grand President Joanne Saltas accompanied the supreme president to all three meetings. "We appreciated the generous amount of time afforded to us by all three ambassadors," Supreme President Kouzounis said. "The meetings were productive, informative, and provided us with an opportunity to update them on how the AHEPA family is working to strengthen the bridge between the United States and Greece and Cyprus via the various philanthropic and educational programs it has undertaken. We also pledged our ongoing support to each ambassador." Initiatives that were highlighted by the AHEPA family leaders were: AHEPA's humanitarian efforts for the people of Greece where donations to Apostoli Mission have exceeded $130,000 and a fifth shipping container filled with medical supplies and destined for Evangelismos Hospital has been secured and scheduled for departure on October 11; and the Daughters of Penelope's support for WINHellas, a domestic violence hotline in Athens, Greece. AHEPA hosted Ambassador Pearce and Senior Greece Desk Officer Davida L-R: First Counselor Nicolaos Krikos, Supreme President Anthony Kouzounis, Grand President Joanne Saltas, and Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to the U.S. Christos Panagopoulos following their meeting. The meetings with Ambassadors Panagopoulos and Chacalli were held at the embassies of Greece and Cyprus, respectively, on September 13.
