Mother Lodge District One
The District One Hoover, Ala., senior housing project's Board of Directors again treated their residents
to what's become an annual Halloween Party complete with costumes and appropriate food on Oct.
26, 2013. This is the sixth year that the Board has
hosted this popular event. A contest was held for
the best costumes and the residents later enjoyed
some bingo. Members of the Board and others in
attendance included: Jimmy Pafudakis, president;
Audrey Marianes, treasurer; Tonie Ann Coumanis
Torrans, Secretary; Constantine Zouboukos and
Carol Kartanos, District One governors; Kathryn Coumanis, DOP District lt. gov.; Danni Varlan, Foundation secretary/treasurer;
Daniel Kartanos, director; Steve Nickolson, District 1 treasurer; and Tom Varlan, Knoxville chapter president.

Chapter President Chief George B. Dodge, Sr., has been honored by the AHEPA District 1 for distinguished community
service and as District One's Chapter President of the Year. As
chapter president, Brother Dodge has increased the awareness
of AHEPA throughout the city. In addition to providing and
managing an AHEPA apartment complex for the elderly in
Pensacola, the organization also provides college scholarships
for worthy Escambia County students and is working to provide food for homeless Veterans in the Pensacola area. In addition, Brother Dodge has received the Florida Governor's Points
of Light Award, for his work in support of Native American
people and University of West Florida President's Award for
Leadership working with diversity at the University to include
Native American culture. He also works with the Gulf Coast
Veterans Advocacy Council and is the co-chair of the Veterans

Supreme President Anthony Kouzounis attended
the 90th anniversary celebration for Worthington
Chapter 30, Baltimore, Md., on Oct. 6, 2013. Among
the attendees sharing in the commemoration were
former Senator Paul Sarbanes, and his son, U.S. Rep.
John Sarbanes. Both prominent public servants are
members of Worthington Chapter 30.
