Athletic Awardees, Hall of Famers Feted for Excellence

AHEPA announced award presentations to outstanding current
and former athletes, scholar-athletes, and industry professionals
at its Athletic Luncheon held at the Centennial Supreme
Convention, Orlando, Fla., July 19, 2022.
" We are proud to recognize an outstanding group of Hellenes
who excel in athletics or their respective profession in the sports
industry, in the classroom, and who exemplify volunteerism
within their communities, " Supreme President Jimmy Kokotas
said. " We congratulate our honorees. They are committed to promoting
and perpetuating these ideals, all of which are important
facets of our mission. "
" I commend AHEPA's National Athletic Department, led by
Supreme Athletic Director Chris Atsaves and Gregory J. Stamos,
who chairs the Athletic Awards Selection Committee, for their
dedication to honoring our exceptional athletes and those in the
sports industry, " Kokotas said. " AHEPA is grateful to each of the
benefactors and sponsors of these awards, and to the Athletic
Committee Boosters and its supporters, all of whom have contributed
to the development of this marvelous program to recognize
our student-athletes. "

The AHEPA Hellenic Athletic Hall of Fame was established
in 1974 by the late Supreme Athletic Director, Dr. Monte Kofos
and now includes more than 160 inductees. Previous inductees
include: Harry Agganis, Alex Karras, Milt Pappas, Pete Sampras,
Eric Karros, Gene Rossides, Steve Lappas, Bob Costas, Spero
Dedes, Greg Louganis, and Marcos Baghdatis, among many
others.
Professional Hockey All-Star Lands Agganis Award
Saint Louis Blues All-Star Forward Jordan Kyrou received the
prestigious AHEPA-Harry Agganis Most Outstanding Athlete
Award. Kyrou, 23, is considered one of the league's rising
stars. He was selected to the National Hockey League All-Star
Game, where he tallied five points in the tournament and won
