HOUSING
National Night Out in Bloomington
Forty Penelope 35 Senior Apts. residents from Bloomington, Minnesota, had
a blast at National Night Out where festivities included a fashion show, bingo,
and pizza! The residents buzzed with enjoyment and lots of smiles to go around.
Thanks to the National Sewing Guild members, who provided jaw-dropping
fashion show entertainment; Master Gardener Heidi, who informed residents
about the community's new habitat grant; and a surprise visit by Bloomington
Police Department officer, Joe, who provided updates on the new policy chief
and canine unit. Staff and Daughters of Penelope members joined in the fun, and
the residents appreciated their contributions to the event.
Happenings at AHEPA Senior Living Communities
Thanks to the Fenwick Foundation's
generosity and a matching donor,
AHEPA 39 Senior Apartments resident,
Sue, was able to purchase and plant
beautiful Hibiscus trees and annuals
at the front entrance to the apartment
building in Haverhill, Mass. The community
appreciated Sue's green thumb.
Service coordination is key to keeping
residents living independently and
aging in place. At AHEPA 284 Senior
Apartments in Columbia, S.C., our team
of service coordinators arranged for
Prisma Health's Mobile Mammography
team visit our site to provide mammograms
to nearly 30 residents. The residents
were happy this service was provided
on-site.
The " Coffee with a Cop " program at
Penelope 54 Senior Apartments, Houston,
provides residents with an opportunity to
get to know local Community Services
officers over breakfast and a cup of Joe.
The officers also inform residents how
they can be of service to them.
Summertime Fun!
Summertime meant it was cookout and
picnic season at AHEPA communities.
The fun kicked-off at AHEPA 29-IV
Senior Apartments in Houston, which
held a Memorial Day barbeque.
AHEPA 192 Senior Apartment residents
in Johnston, Iowa, celebrated
summer fun and camaraderie. Thanks
to all our volunteers!
" Splash Day Fun " at Penelope 54
Senior Apartments in Houston showed
AHEPA 284
there's no better way to cool down on
a hot summer day. Water games and
an inflatable pool made the day a bit
cooler!
Residents and staff at all six AHEPA
78 Senior Apartments communities
in Merrillville, Ind., joined in the celebration
to wish the Order of AHEPA a
Happy 100th anniversary!
The AHEPA 59 board members
had their annual August cookout for
the residents, August 18. Chapter 59
brothers and Daughters of Penelope
Chloris Chapter 40 members supported
the event. They prepared, cooked and
served food for the Canton, Ohio, community.
The turnout was great, and the
residents enjoyed themselves and were
very appreciative.
