AHEPA Chapter 306, Troy, N.Y., AHEPA Chapter
125, Schenectady, N.Y., and AHEPA Chapter 140,
Albany, N.Y.
The New York Capital Region of AHEPA chapters presented a combined
donation of $4,000 to the Bernard & Millie Duker Children's Hospital
at Albany Medical Center, July 14, 2022, from funds raised at the 3rd
annual Eleftheria Capital Region AHEPA Golf Outing, June 15, 2022. The
Bernard & Millie Duker Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center is
the Capital Region's only hospital devoted exclusively to the medical
needs of infants, children and adolescents.
AHEPA Chapter 319, Port Jefferson, N.Y.
The chapter presented four students at Stony Brook University's Center
for Hellenic Studies a total of $3,000 for their winning essays in the chapter's
scholarship competition on AHEPA Sunday. The four recipients were
Eleni Haralampopoulos, Faith Keller, Eros Lari, and Marie Lolis. Brothers
John Tsunis and George Vlachos presented the awards, certificates of
scholastic achievement, and AHEPA medals. The chapter partners with
Dr. Stella Tsirka, director of the university's Center for Hellenic Studies,
to create the essay competition. Chapter President Nicholas Calogredes
also presented on AHEPA's history to the community.
Gus Cherevas Estia-Pindus Chapter 326, Flushing, N.Y.
The chapter presented scholarships in the amount of $1,500 each to three
deserving high school seniors at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church,
Flushing, N.Y., June 26, 2022. The recipients were Katie Metis, Victoria
Vlachos, and Helena Douveas. District 6 Governor and Scholarship
Committee Co-Chairman Dean Moskos and Chapter President Jimmy
Papageorgiou presented the awards. The chapter, together with the family
of the outgoing chapter president, Nick Voulkoudis, in memory of his
son, Christos, sponsored the coffee hour.
