Lakeshore Chapter 205, Chicago
The chapter conducted its annual Back-to-School
Backpack fundraising drive in August to deliver brand
new backpacks filled with all the necessary school
supplies to more than 100 school children in need in
the Chicagoland area. The chapter also donated hundreds
of additional loose school supply items to several
schools that had identified those specific needs. The
Ahepans look forward to continuing this project next
year.
Demosthenes Chapter 66 and Daughters of
Penelope Antigone Chapter 35, Minneapolis, Minn.
The chapters hosted the
Grainfield District 14
Convention where two District
14 Lifetime Achievement
Awards were presented to
Brother John DeMoss (posthumously)
and DOP Past Grand
President Angie Speliopoulos,
who is a former National
Penelope of the Year recipient.
Speliopoulos also
is credited for spearheading
Chapter 35's
sponsorship of
two
affordable senior housing
communities in
Bloomington. Brother
DeMoss, who was an
attorney,
served as
District 14's legal advisor
and was a lifelong Ahepan. Chapter 35 President Peggy Sperides made
the presentations.
