Indiana Congressman Frank J. Mrvan Joins AHEPA
U.S. Rep. Frank J. Mrvan (D-IN) joined
AHEPA at a ceremony held January
26, 2022, at AHEPA 78-IV Senior
Apartments, Merrillville, Ind.
" We congratulate and welcome
Congressman Mrvan into the Order, "
Supreme President Jimmy Kokotas
said. " We look forward to his continued
engagement with the community. We
also commend the Ahepans of District
12 who always do an admirable job
of reaching out to public servants and
bringing them into the community's
fold. "
Merrillville Chapter 78 President
George Domoras presided over the initiation
ceremony. Supreme Governor
Sam Benjamin, who was instrumental
in the congressman's joining AHEPA,
administered the Oath.

Council Member Andrew
Kyres, and Congressman
Mrvan. Also present were: Sons of
Pericles National Advisor Nick Kavadas,
AHEPA-DOP District 12 Foundation
President George Loxas, and AHEPA
100 South Bend Housing President
Panos Niarchos.

at the congressman's district office.
AHEPA Applauds Defense Bill's Enactment
Bill Strengthens U.S.-Greece Defense Partnership
AHEPA applauded the enactment of
the annual defense authorization bill
in December 2021 that included provisions
aimed to bolster the United States'
defense partnership with Greece.
Congress included the U.S.-Greece
Defense and Interparliamentary
Partnership Act of 2021 in the annual
defense authorization bill (NDAA).
" A secure and stable Eastern
Mediterranean is a priority and in the
United States' best interests, " Supreme
President Jimmy Kokotas said. " In
Greece, the United States has a dependable
and steady ally in defense and
security cooperation. The Act recognizes
this fact and builds upon the alliance
by taking the appropriate measures
to authorize critical resources that

enhance U.S. defense cooperation with
Greece and maintain a lasting U.S. partnership
in the Eastern Mediterranean.
We commend Congress for passing it in
the NDAA and applaud its enactment. "

Key provisions of the U.S.-Greece
Defense and Interparliamentary
Partnership Act of 2021 include support
for Greek military modernization, authorization
for the transfer of American military
equipment to Greece, and authorization
to establish parliamentary engagement
within the 3+1 framework among Greece,
Cyprus, Israel and the United States.
Separate from the U.S.-Greece
Defense and Interparliamentary
Partnership Act of 2021, the NDAA also
authorized $41,650,000 in FY2022 for
military construction at Naval Support
Activity (NSA) Souda Bay.
