A Landmark Moment Reflects Upon Program's Excellence
AMC President and CEO Steve Beck
A truly momentous event in our housing program's history
occurred in March when HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge visited
the AHEPA 29 Senior Apartments campus of Houston communities.
Secretary
Fudge's successful visit is a landmark moment. We
believe it speaks volumes to the excellent level of service and
commitment we provide to our residents, which can be a source
of pride for all AHEPA and Daughters of Penelope members.
According to a press secretary of one of the U.S. representatives
who accompanied her on the tour, Secretary Fudge stated
the community was in such good shape that it was " hands
down " one of the best she has seen in the country. The visit also
marks the pinnacle of many decades of excellence based upon
values instilled in AHEPA's Housing program and our company
that include a commitment to service, philanthropy, and dignity
for older adults.
In fact, AHEPA senior housing communities have
received several very high-profile visits from public officials
during the past year, most recently from
U.S. Congressman Frank Mrvan. He visited
AHEPA 78-VI Senior Apartments in
Merrillville in May.
We thank these public officials for choosing
to visit our communities and for spending
time with our residents, board members,
and professional staff. Our message to them has been simple:
our residents and their families are our focus. Our pride in caring
for residents translates to the safe and beautifully maintained
properties we own and manage nationwide. Clearly it is
showing. In doing so, I commend our dedicated volunteer board
presidents and their board members as well as our compassionate,
devoted, and well-trained professionals.
HUD Secretary Fudge Visits AHEPA's Houston Communities,
A Historic First
U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary
Marcia L. Fudge visited the AHEPA 29 Senior Apartments campus
of Houston, March 14, 2022.
Secretary Fudge's visit was a first by a HUD secretary to an
AHEPA senior housing community. She toured
the campus, which is comprised of four phases,
and met with residents, board members, and
AMC personnel. U.S. Rep. Al Green (D-TX), who
represents the congressional district where the
campus is located, and U.S. Reps. Sheila Jackson
Lee (D-TX) and Lizzie Fletcher (D-TX), who represent
surrounding congressional districts in
Houston, accompanied Secretary Fudge.
" We were honored to welcome Secretary
Fudge and several members of Congress to
our affordable senior living communities in
Houston, " AMC President and CEO Steve Beck
said. " We applaud their commitment to creating
strong and sustainable affordable housing for all,
including seniors. "
