William McKinley Chapter 91, Buffalo, N.Y.
Despite an unexpected snowstorm, the brothers initiated four men
into the Order on February 27, 2023. Welcome to Brothers Eddy
Haidar, John Manyon, Nick Malamas, and Perry Nicholas. It was
the chapter's first initiation since its reactivation during the 2020
pandemic. President Stephen Eoannou, Vice President George
Nicholas, Secretary John Melithoniotes, Warden Damianos Skaros,
and Captain of the Guard John Spanos, presided over the ceremony.
AHEPA Chapter 158, Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
Brother Peter Maroulis received his 50-year service pin
recognizing his AHEPA life membership on January 10,
2023. Initiated in 1962, Brother Maroulis, an attorney, has
provided counsel to the chapter throughout his membership.
President Stephen J. Miller made the presentation at
the chapter's annual dinner meeting held at the Eveready
Diner in Hyde Park, N.Y., and stated how honored and
proud the brothers were to recognize Peter's achievement.
Brother Nick Stratis also achieved his 50-year service pin
but was unable to attend the dinner.
Hermes Chapter 186, Astoria, N.Y.
Ahepans visited the Heritage Museum of Epirus in Astoria on
March 15, 2023. They were given a tour of the museum's permanent
exhibit showcasing Greek costumes from the region
of Epirus, donated by members of the Society of Epirotes
Anagenesis Ladies Auxiliary Souliotissai. Brother Peter S.
Giakoumis, the museum's curator and the chapter secretary,
provided a presentation on the temporary exhibit, " Epirus
and the Balkan Wars of 1912-1913. " The presentation featured
reproduced military uniforms, original artifacts from Brother
Giakoumis' personal collection, and highlighted the Greek
army's achievements and the role of Americanized Greeks who
fought in the wars. The brothers praised Brother Giakoumis for
bringing history to life and expressed gratitude for his work and look forward to his future contributions to the museum.
