Youth Leadership Seminars (YLS)
MOWW Youth Leadership Seminars (YLS) are
one-day educational seminars similar to the YLC.
Of shorter duration, these seminars focus on
specialized topics such as civics, law & order, flag
education, etc. The primary means for sharing
this information are presentations by credentialed
experts who interact with students and facilitate
discussion and activities in which attendees work
toward a team solution.
In addition to presenters from various military
components who speak on leadership and
patriotism, historical interpreters entertain and
educate students about significant historical
characters and events. Pictured, retired National
Guard Sergeant Major Willis Phelps tells the story
of an African American Civil War soldier.
