T
he hospice model of care is built around
community. It's not just doctors who see hospice
patients, but also nurses, social workers, hospice
aides and other members of the interdisciplinary
team. The patient is supported by a diverse
group of professionals who come together to
give the patient the support that's needed.

This same sense of community is starting
to work its way into hospice advocacy too.
Hospices from the same state or congressional
district are now joining forces to meet with their
members of Congress together and "speak with
one voice" on the pressing issues facing our field.
And the results to date are quite promising.
