|| Where are you going this time, Tim?
I'm on my way to a conference-number 36!
I'm on the road (or in the air) talking about the
way people live in a real-time, 24/7 world and
helping community banks across the country
reimagine payments through that same digital
lens. In a typical week, I fly somewhere for
in-person meetings, host a few webinars and
speak to community bankers at a conference
or two.
No one has asked for my autograph, but
the results are rewarding. The RTP® network
provides building blocks to reimagine how
to attract, retain and engage customers. It's
pretty neat.
|| What makes this project so special?
The RTP® network gives real-time precision to
when payments are made, and the messaging/
data part makes for " conversational commerce. "
When banks and their customers begin
exchanging ideas, the possibilities of putting
these features to work are endless. It's a big
reason nearly 50 percent of demand deposit
accounts will be ready for real-time payments
by the end of the year.
|| What is your goal?
The Faster Payments Task Force set the
overarching goal to achieve real-time payments
ubiquity by the end of 2020. My mission is
to make sure community banks know the
reasons and ways to get started. Some
community banks will connect directly to the
RTP® network, while others will use third-party
service providers, including bankers' banks and
specialist payment processors.
But the most immediate goal is to catch this
