|| How will your company stay
on course to meet the growing
needs of community banks
today?
We look to help community banks
in three buckets: help them better
compete against larger banks
and fintechs, drive eff iciencies in
their businesses to reduce costs,
and enhance security for their
organizations and customers.
We also strongly believe in the
" voice of the client, " and we gather
information from clients to (a) create
new solutions or (b) enhance existing
solutions via our client management
teams, client business reviews,
client advisory boards and/or FIS
conferences (InfoShare).
|| What products, services or
technologies will FIS tee off
in 2019 that are of the most
interest to your community
bank customers?
I'd like to mention two services within
our retail and corporate payments
group that will be important for
banks in 2019. The first is that FIS
is now off icially a prepaid program
manager. Prior to this point, we
were a prepaid card processor, but
through our new prepaid program
management solution, we can off er
our bank clients a more turnkey
prepaid program for their customers.
Many community banks with less
than $10 billion in assets grapple
with making the case to off er
prepaid cards due to return versus
the overhead of running a prepaid
card program. FIS's PPM solution
takes over much of the overhead of
managing the program for our bank
clients, thereby making a prepaid
program profitable for them.
I'd also like to mention our merchant
processing solution. This is already
launched, but we see as many as 10
to 15 percent of our bank clients not
even off ering merchant processing
to their business customers. Business
customers are anywhere from two to
four times more valuable over their
lifetime than a consumer customer,
so it's extremely important for
our bank clients to off er as many
products as possible.
|| What areas of growth must FIS
focus on to stay above par in the
industry?
The industry is moving as fast
as ever. FIS invests in solutions
to help our clients diff erentiate
themselves in the near-term-such
as digital banking, faster payments,
consumer P2P, analytics, AI and
machine learning (products that
help our clients attract and retain
their customers)-while continuing
to partner and test cutting-edge
innovations that may not be in the
market for two to three years from
now. It's important that we continue
to pilot and validate new solutions to
constantly keep community banks
ahead of the innovation curve.
