Career best round: 70, at Hollydale
Best part of my game: Short irons-from 150 in.
Part of my game that needs work: I have
changed chipping styles [trying to take the
hands out of my chipping motion], and I'm
struggling with it.
Best shot I hit this year: We had a senior
scramble, and I hit a 3-wood about 230
[yards], right to the green. That's my max
nowadays.
Favorite course: Pebble Creek
Best golf book or movie: You've almost got
to go with Caddyshack.
What I like most about golf: The rewards
when you do make a shot that feels right. We
hit so few that even come close to what the
pros do-and when you do make a swing
where you get your weight shifted and you hit
through it and hit it in the middle, and you go,
" Oh, my goodness! " It is a wonderful feeling,
and if you get one or two of them a round, it's
pretty wonderful.
What I like least: I struggle topping it every
once in a while. ... It really disgusts me when I
don't see the clubhead hit the ball.
Course I would like to play: Giants Ridge
If I could change one Rule of Golf: For
us high handicappers, I would change the
lost-ball rule to just a drop-take a stroke, but
drop it.
Favorite pro golfer: Jack Nicklaus, and I
still like Phil Mickelson.
Will Tiger Woods win another major?
Oh, sure. I personally wouldn't want him to,
since I'm a Jack fan, but he will.
Where I want my game to be in fi ve
years: Single digit (handicap).
