Jack MacKenzie
Turf Association Gets
New Executive Director
The Minnesota Golf Course Superintendent's
Association appointed Jack
MacKenzie as its new executive director
January 1. MacKenzie will head
one of the largest turf organizations
in the state. The Mahtomedi, Minn.,
resident plans to focus on building
relationships across all sectors of the
green industry in Minnesota and to
continue the MGCSA's representation
at the state capitol. " I'll be the face of
the association wherever I'm needed, "
MacKenzie says.
MacKenzie graduated from the University
of Minnesota. He has served as
the course superintendent at North
Oaks Golf Club for 27 seasons. Turf
maintenance runs in the family DNA,
as MacKenzie's son, Tyler, is the managing
intern in the turf department of
the Olympic Golf Club in San Francisco,
the site of this year's U.S. Open.
Correction
In the Fall 2011 issue of Minnesota
Golfer, the opening date of White
Bear Yacht Club (Great Drives,
page 5) was listed as 1897. WBYC
opened its first nine holes in 1912
and an additional nine in 1915.

The Fairway Foundation

The MMJGA sponsors a Caddie Program,
which gives young people a chance to
discover golf and earn income at the same
time. Teens in the program learn how to
play golf and are afforded an opportunity to
earn income, respect, confidence and free
