Built in 1926, Madden's
Pine Beach East is Minnesota's
fi rst 18-hole
resort course. Famous
for its par-six, 618-yard
6th hole, the course
features a variety of elevation
changes, beautifully manicured trees
and generous fairways. We have lovingly
maintained conditions on this historic
course, which retains much of its 1920s
charm. But we've also rebuilt the greens
and added bunkers and water hazards.
Mature oaks and pines tower over the
fairways. From the back, this par-72
course measures 6,101 yards.

The Classic at Madden's

nation's golf courses,
and Minnesota's only 5
Star Top 100 golf course.
With its dramatic scenery,
you will fi nd the terrain here rolls up and
down in long, sweeping knolls. There
is a 60-foot elevation change between

In 1996, after opening with a 78, Alissa Herron (pictured
with her dad, Carson), of Wayzata CC, carded a 69 to get
back into contention, though she still trailed Kelly Kirwin by
fi ve strokes. Herron's steady fi nal round 72 (219, +3) was
good for a two-shot win over Kristin Lindstrom. " I was hitting
my irons to the greens just as good [as the 69] but I did feel
more pressure than I had all week. "
