2009 MPGA MID-AMATEUR
CHAMPIONSHIP
Larry Barnacle, of Loggers Trail GC, held off a
charging JT Johnson to win the 2009 MPGA
Mid-Amateur by two shots, May 17 at Pebble
Creek Golf Club in Becker. Barnacle, 61, fi red
a fi rst-round 72 for a four-shot lead over
Randy Garber and Steve Whittaker. Johnson's
closing-round 71 raced up the leaderboard but
wasn't enough to catch Barnacle, who posted
a second-round 74 for a 2-over-par 146.
Johnson fi nished runner up with 148 (77-71),
while Garber, Whittaker and Scott Holt fi nished
tied for third at 150. The Individual Low Net
Championship, run in conjunction with the
mid-amateur, was won by Aaron Johnson, Greg
Knaeble and Ronald McGuire, the fi rst, second
and third-fl ight winners, respectively.
