* BY MIKE BARGE * TIPS FROM THE PROS Prevent Pre-Shot Sabotage Pros visualize the shot they want; amateurs should, also, keeping that target in view. I recently read a wonderful instruction article explaining 10 ways a golf shot can be wrecked before the swing. I've long been harping on the importance of a preshot routine and set-up as the road to consistency and improvement. Too many golfers approach their shot with fear and doubt rather than confi dence and trust. A proper pre-shot routine should always include positive visualization. Free will allows us to either imagine the ball fl ying straight down the middle or slicing out of bounds. It's our choice. Observe Tour players as they prepare to hit any shot and watch how they spend more time looking at the target and merely glancing at the ball. Too many golfers do the opposite. Don't be the player who is sabotaging their shot before the swing.
