ith high-tech golf equipment creating longer
shots, a drivable par 4 is tempting, but it doesn't
come without risk-and the 317-yard No. 15 at
Somerby has plenty of that. Water runs along the entire left
side (and encroaches into the line of fl ight from the back tees)
of this slight dogleg-left hole. A landing area at about 250
yards is ample but narrows considerably near the apron, where
bunkers lie to the front right and left. A right hole location is
accessible on this wide, shallow green, but left is trouble.
Played as a straight par 4, however, a drive to 100 yards out
provides a great scoring opportunity.
