(tips from the pros ) Swing- Don't Hit By Michael Turnbull Photos by Matt Seefeldt H old a 7-iron lightly in your throwing hand and swing it back and forth from your shoulder, brushing the grass in a wide fashion as if you were swinging at dandelions with a stick. Don't worry about your grip or if the clubface is square; just let it swing back and forth freely from the shoulder. Then try it with a teed-up ball-but don't try to hit the ball. Just feel the clubhead swing and see if you can feel the difference between the free-swinging motion and consciously guiding or manipulating the clubhead. Swinging a hammer or swinging a golf club-neither action is more complicated than the other if we keep our attention on the feeling of the " swing " and away from mechanics.
