(tips from the pros ) Cut the Slice By Mike Barge, Hazeltine National GC Photos by Matt Seefeldt T he golfi ng world is full of slicers. As instructors, we harp on set-up, backswing and downswing concepts that will reduce and eventually eliminate the slice. If those three elements are correct, we can achieve the correct position after impact. Notice how the forearms and wrists have completely released to where the butt-end of the club is pointing where the ball was and the weight is moving to the left leg and towards the target. Achieve this position and say goodbye to slicing. Mike Barge is the Director of Instruction at Hazeltine National GC and a Class A Member of the PGA of America. The butt-end of the club is pointing to where the ball was. www.mngolf.org Fall 2011 MINNESOTAGOLFER 7http://www.mngolf.org
