(punch shots ) ( The President's Desk It's Been an Honor T By Jim Lehman here is something about golf that has intrigued me since I was very young. My fi rst experience with golf was actually an informal golf tournament in the playground of the elementary school near our family home. It was mid-summer, and somehow I became aware of a junior golf event with soup cans as cups dug in the ground and greens that stimped at about two. It was a three-hole event and, at the age of 6, I think I was the only junior in the event at that age. I was given a small trophy for winning my age division, but it wasn't until later that I realized I had no competition. It didn't matter, as I was immediately hooked on the game forever. It has been my dream since that fi rst junior tournament to be able to play the game and be around the game. I have been very fortunate to have so many great experiences and meet so many great people because of golf. Most of my best friends are connected to my golf passion, and I have been blessed to enjoy the game on multiple levels. It has been my great honor and privilege to serve as president of the Minnesota Golf Association for the past two years. I've had the opportunity to represent the MGA locally, at many of our allied association gatherings and The 2010 Annual Meeting at Midland Hills CC. 30 MINNESOTAGOLFER Fall 2012 Lehman as the 2003 MGA Mid-Amateur champion at Brackett's Crossing CC. www.mngolf.orghttp://www.mngolf.org
