Cheers to a
Great Season

W
e've had a wonderful golf season to enjoy. I
truly can't remember when we've had this
kind of growing season. So many of the
courses have delivered unbelievable turf conditions for
golfers to enjoy. The weather has also, for the most part,
been kind to our championships. We could not have had
three better days for our MGA Amateur Championship
at Northland Country Club in Duluth.
The crystal-blue skies along with the
views of Lake Superior made it quite
memorable.
Jon DuToit was able to conquer the
greens and deliver a wonderful performance
as our 2015 champion. Northland
was a wonderful host for the 112th
state amateur, and I'd like to thank them
for all they did in supporting the players,
MGA staff and guests. They helped us to
provide a first-class event and continued
to live up to their name as a premier
venue for Minnesota golf.

well done. I heard nothing but praise and thanks from
our staff about how all of the courses went out of their
way to welcome the players and provide them with toptier
experiences. And I'd be remiss to not thank our numerous
volunteers who put in countless hours this year to
make the season a success. Thank you one and all.
In other news, Sept. 18 marked the Centennial Gala
for the Minnesota Women's Golf Association (MWGA).
We at the MGA congratulate them on this wonderful accomplishment
and celebrate 100 years of women's golf in
our state.
Governor Mark Dayton has declared Sept. 18, 2015,
" Minnesota Women's Golf Association Day. " The proclamation
recognizes the MWGA centennial as well as the
association's contribution to golf in Minnesota and its
service to the more than 100 golf courses and nearly 1,500
members. The proclamation is a tribute to the MWGA
and the significant role it has played in the history of
women's golf.
Fortunately, as I write this, we've still got a number of
great fall days ahead of us to enjoy while golf course conditions
are at their finest. Yes, the days are getting shorter
(my wife, Kathy, can attest to my annual frustration with
the golf season coming to a close), so let's make sure we
squeeze in every last day before the snow closes in on us.
