Q I'm planning a golf outing to Florida in January. Can I post my
Florida rounds?
A If you play golf outside of Minnesota, you follow the score-posting season
for the particular area where the round is played. Therefore, when playing
in Florida, which has a year-round posting season, you shall post your
score. Minnesota's handicap season applies only to rounds played in Minnesota
during the active handicap season, April 1 through Oct. 31.
If we were fortunate enough to have favorable weather in Minnesota, allowing us to play in
January, the scores made would not be acceptable. The key reason for an active season is to keep
the conditions on the golf course as close as possible to the mid-season conditions used when
the course obstacles were evaluated and USGA Course and Slope Ratings were established.

We'll report the winning name in the next issue
of Minnesota Golfer magazine.
In the previous issue of Minnesota Golfer, we asked: Which local
phenom survived a playoff to make match play at Royal Troon,
Scotland, and the 1984 British Ladies Amateur (going on to win the
championship), became a member of the winning U.S. World Cup
Team at Royal Hong Kong GC later that summer, and, after turning
professional, was named rookie of the year and eventually won a
major on the LPGA Tour?
Bob Melander, of Edina, was one of nearly a dozen readers who
responded with the correct answer, Jody (Rosenthal) Anschutz. Bob
won the drawing for a copy of Gene Westmoreland's A Game for Life.
