Mounts | Course Record 67-Corey Johnson T ipsinah Mounds Golf Course recently dressed up the forward tees of the beautiful hole number 16, but that can't disguise the treachery that awaits at this No. 4 handicap hole. From the tips, it's 195 yards over a pond bordering the length of the hole on the right and curling in front of the green. With no run-up to the putting surface, the hole requires a strong tee shot-especially with the wind blowing off nearby Pomme de Terre Lake. " The lake is right there, so you can get some wind off the lake, which is usually more of a crosswind from the left, " says clubhouse manager Tonya M. Nelson. The large green itself is no picnic, with a hefty slope from back to front. Nelson recommends staying below the hole or else a downhill putt could wind up in the rocks (or even a watery grave). -Joseph Oberle www.mngolf.org Fall 2017 MINNESOTAGOLFER 7http://www.mngolf.org
