* BY MIKE BARGE * TIPS FROM THE PROS Swing A Balance t the core of every athletic move is good balance-try this drill to achieve it in your swing. W hen you hear someone comment about an athlete and how they " make it look so easy, " it's a compliment to their balance. There is not a single athletic move that doesn't require good balance, including the golf swing. As golfers, we need to be aware of our balance on all shots. We mostly focus on our balance during the set-up and fi nish position, but balance needs to be maintained throughout the swing. A drill that can help you feel whether this is occurring is hitting balls while standing on one leg. Tee up a 7-iron and make a less-than-full swing. The goals are to make solid contact and avoid wobbling. This is not an easy drill, but it can identity any balance issues.
