trouble, because the yardage will tempt
you on this tough and exciting fi nishing hole.
Driving through a chute of oak trees to the
50-yard-wide landing area at the corner of a 90-degree
dogleg right (starting 200 yards out) is the safer play, but
big hitters will try to cut the corner instead. There is out of
bounds along the right and a lake situated on the left of the
narrowed approach that encroaches halfway in front of the
green (which is large but contains a bowl in front and another
at the back left).

that the risk and reward are not worth it, " says head pro Jeff

fairway, and then grab whatever club you are
comfortable with to avoid the lake yet still go

hen Tom Lehman redesigned North Oaks in
2007, he moved the fairway on No. 7 back to its
original location to the right and put a bunker
at 270 yards that serves as an aiming point.
This long, slight dogleg right hole sets up for a soft-fade
right from the bunker (for the right-handed golfer). There
Lehman created a fl at spot on the right side that offers the best
view of the receptive green complex on the lengthy approach.
" It's a nice comfortable second shot because the hole is
kind of like a bowl, " says pro Ray Vennewitz. " You can't see the
green from the fairway, only the fl ag. You try to get it in that
bowl and feed it down to the green. " -J.O.
