ALLIED ASSOCIATIONS: A LIST OF MGA PARTNERS
In Minnesota, the MGA co-sponsors the
program with the Western Golf Association
and the Evans Scholars Foundation. Established
in 1930-and as an outcome of Chick
Evans' 1916 U.S. Open win at The Minikahda
Club in Minneapolis-it is among the nation's
largest privately funded scholarship
programs. Recipients are chosen after individual
candidate interviews. Additional
candidates from Minnesota may receive the
scholarship in coming months.

in academics and in service to their
schools and communities, " said John Kaczkowski,
president and chief operating offi cer
of the WGA/ESF. " We welcome them to the
Evans Scholars family and look forward to
their continued success as college students. "
" The Evans Scholarship is truly a lifechanging
opportunity for the deserving
young men and women who will now be able
to realize their dream of earning a college
education, " adds John Mendesh, lead WGA
Director in Minnesota.
Currently, 865 caddies are enrolled as Evans
Scholars in colleges across the nation,
including 57 at the University of Minnesota.
More than 9,000 caddies have graduated as
Evans Scholars-including 575 from the
University of Minnesota-since the program
was founded.

Founded in 1900, the Trans-Mississippi
Golf Association is one of the oldest and

The CMAA is the professional association
for managers of private membership clubs.

Association, MPGA
The purpose of the MPGA is to both promote
interest in the sport and to conserve the

The Fairway Foundation
The Fairway Foundation uses the game
of golf to teach lifetime values and skills

Minnesota Minority Junior Golf
Association, MMJGA
The MMJGA sponsors a Caddie Program,
which gives young people a chance to
discover golf and earn income at the same
time. Teens in the program learn how to
play golf and are afforded an opportunity
to earn income, respect, confi dence and
free rounds of golf by working as caddies.
