7KH 0DJQLÀ FHQW Interstate 35 was authorized in 1956 and mostly constructed in the 1960s, so most courses on this tour existed before that. Author Joe Bissen's book, " Fore! Gone. Minnesota's Lost Golf Courses, " chronicles the loss of golf courses in the state, each enhanced by a wonderful yarn. In the book, Bissen talks about Faribault Golf & Country Club, " founded in 1910. " But the book reveals that Fairbault G&CC was originally called Tatepaha Golf Club, which opened in 1900- and was among the seven courses in a 1901 meeting in Winona at which the Minnesota Golf Association was formed. The other founding clubs: * Town and Country Club (St. Paul) * Minikahda Club (Minneapolis) * Bryn Mawr Club (Minneapolis) * Rochester Club (Rochester) * Merriam Park Club (St. Paul) * Meadow Brook Club (Winona) Faribault Golf & Country Club is tightly woven into forested hills.
