Hoge Wins First PGA Tour Title
In his 203rd start, Tom Hoge, 32, of Fargo, N.D., claimed his first victory on
the PGA Tour Feb. 6 at the Pebble Beach Golf Links in Monterey, Calif. Hoge,
a two-time MGA Amateur champ (2009-2010), closed with a 4-under 68 (19
under par) to beat Jordan Spieth by two.
" It's been so long since I won that I think I forgot how to celebrate, " said
Hoge afterward.
The $1,566,000 prize for first place ought to help jog Hoge's memory.
With his first-place finish at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Hoge moves
up 29 places in the Official World Golf Rankings, to No. 38, into the top 50 of
the OWGR, and an invite to the '22 Masters.

He was chair of the handicap and course rating
committee at a time (the mid-1970s) when the
association was recruiting member clubs to its
handicap computer service, and more significantly,
when the handicap system was exploring
rating factors beyond mere distance. Later,
Mosso served as chair of the finance committee
in the 1980s when Minnesota's Open
Space Property tax law came into effect and
golf courses were at risk of being taxed at rates
reflecting their potential development value
rather than their current use. Owners of land
used for farming, recreation and golf would
have been financially crippled if the legislation
had passed in its original form.
Mosso retired as an MGA Director in 1990
and remained an active alumni director for
two more decades as a member of Mendakota
Country Club, where he effectively promoted
fundraising for the Evans Scholars program
through sales of bag tags and annual Par Club
memberships.
Mosso was employed by Lethert, Skwira,
Schultz & Co., LLP, of St. Paul, a firm which audits
the MGA's financial position and operations.
Superintendents Hire New Executive Director
Chris Aumock, of Robbinsdale, was recently hired by the Minnesota Chapter of the Golf Course
Superintendents Association of America as its new executive director, effective March 1.
Aumock, who holds an associate's degree in Golf Facility Management from Century College and
a bachelor's degree in Recreation, Park and Leisure Studies from the University of Minnesota,
replaces Jack MacKenzie who retired after more than a decade at the helm. Aumock has worked
in the golf course industry for the past 15 years, most recently with the Minneapolis Park and
Recreation Board as the golf course superintendent at Meadowbrook and Theodore Wirth golf
courses. Aumock will lead the chapter's nearly 600 members whose mission is to advance the
art and science of golf course management.
