Swinging with
Your Legs
A balanced, strong and effective
swing begins with the legs.

any golfers ask the question, " How are the professionals able
to hit the ball so far with little effort? " To answer that, I like
to compare pro golfers with pro pitchers. In both cases, the
golf ball and baseball are in a static state, so the golfer and the pitcher must
rotate their relaxed body to create the energy to swing the club or throw
the ball. The biggest muscles the pitcher uses to increase arm speed are the
legs-they create hip rotation. The same goes for the golfer, whose job is to
swing the club, not hit the ball.
s )N 0HOTO MY LEGS ARE THE SUPPORTING ACTORS VERY STABLE AND A SOLID BASE
during the backswing. At the top of the swing, my weight is on the inside of
my right foot, and I'm balanced. When the backswing is completed by the
upper body, then the legs become the lead actors in the downswing. Staying
BALANCED THROUGHOUT THE SWING IS VERY IMPORTANT
s )N 0HOTOMY LEGS ARE NOT A SOLID BASE FOR MY TURN AND ) AM NOT BALANCED
at the top of the swing. My weight is on the outside of my right foot. First,
check the width of your stance to make sure that your feet are outside the
BROADEST PART OF YOUR BODY 4HEN MAKE SURE YOU ARE PERCENT BALANCED
