Joins Architect's Group
Kevin Norby, a Chaska-based
golf course
architect long associated
with the firm
Herfort-Norby Design
and the late Don Herfort,
was elected an
associate member of
the American Society of Golf Course
Architects. Among Norby's Minnesota
designs are the Refuge GC, Oak Grove;
Greystone GC, Sauk Centre; and Boulder
Pointe GC, Elko. His most recent
project is a new nine-hole course at
Rush Creek GC, which was expected
to open in Maple Grove in May.
The ASGCA is an organization of
experienced architects whose membership
requirement includes peer review
of actual golf course designs.
MGA's Charley Hvass: " A
Get-it-Done Type of Guy "
Former MGA president
(1980-82)
Charles T. Hvass Sr.,
90, passed away May
20, 2012, in Delray
Beach, Fla.
Hvass was a founding
member at Deer Run GC, member
at Three Score and Ten, president of the
Golden Valley CC, Quail Ridge CC and
International Seniors Amateur Golf
Society.
He served as a bomber pilot in the
Minnesota Minority Junior Golf
Association, MMJGA
The MMJGA sponsors a Caddie Program,
which gives young people a chance to
discover golf and earn income at the same
time. Teens in the program learn how to
play golf and are afforded an opportunity to
earn income, respect, confidence and free
rounds of golf by working as caddies. Go to

Physically Limited Golfers
Association, PLGA
The PLGA is an organization that provides
camaraderie and competitive events for

after moving to Minnesota, became an
exceptional plaintiff's personal injury
trial lawyer specializing in airplane crash
cases. Besides his busy professional life,
Hvass was known for his thoughtfulness,
logic, preparedness and action.
" He always tried to help; he always
wanted to help the unfortunate people.
He did that for all of his life, " says Warren
Rebholz, a former MGA executive
director and long-time friend.
" He was definitely a get-it-done type
of guy, " Rebholz says, adding, " When
he thought of something, he was going
to do it and do it pretty quickly. "
