Constable Claims the
Minnesota Golf
Champions Title

onald Constable shot a 5-under-par 68 to win
the 2014 Minnesota Golf Champions tournament
May 11 at Golden Valley Golf & Country Club.
Constable began the fi nal day in a tie for second place
with Jeff Sorenson at 1-under, but shot a 4-under-par
33 on the opening nine holes Sunday to quickly take
control of the tournament and eventually cruise to a
fi ve-stroke victory.
Minnesota Gopher Jon DuToit held an early twostroke
lead in the fi nal round, but that lead evaporated
and DuToit dropped to 2-over for his round with a bogey
at the 16th. He would fi nish the tournament tied
for second (at 1-under) with defending champ Clayton
Rask at 218, earning Low-Amateur honors.
Justin Smith, University-Les Bolstad GC, fi nished
fourth at even par 219, while Scott Gustafson, Hazeltine
National GC, and Don Berry, Edinburgh USA,
fi nished tied for fi fth at 220.

Christopherson Takes Medalist Honors
at U.S. Open Local Qualifying

rik Christopherson took medalist
honors at the 2014 U.S.
Open Local Qualifying held at The
Wilds Golf Club May 12. He carded
a 5-under-par 67 after making a stifl
ing six birdies with just one bogey.
" After making birdie on 11, I felt
like it was my day to go low, and I
kept putting the pedal to the metal, "
Christopherson said. " I was able to
make three more birdies coming in,
and it was pretty stress-free. "
With a card clear of bogies, Clayton
Rask fi red a 4-under-par 68 to
claim a share of second place with
Alex Kline of Ramsey, Minn.
Ross Miller of Maple Grove,
Minn., earned the fourth qualifying
position as he carded a 3-under-par
69 to advance.
