Burnham Nabs US Women's Open Spot
A
t the age of 19, Sarah Burnham has more accolades, medals
and trophies than most amateur golfers could ever aspire
to accumulate. Just weeks after completing her freshman season
at Michigan State University, Burnham notched possibly her
most impressive and important victory as she carded a 9-overpar
151 at Windsong Farm on May 18, earning medalist honors
and a spot in the 2015 U.S. Women's Open Championship.
" I'm kind of in shock to be honest, " Burnham said with a smile
after her round. " This is the only thing I've ever dreamed about.
I don't care about going pro or anything, I just wanted to play in
one U.S. Open. That's it-that's all I've ever wanted. "
Burnham opened the two-round sectional qualifier with a
3-over-par 74 in horrid conditions,
taking a three-shot lead
into the second round before
shooting a 6-over-par 77. She
claimed the lone qualifying spot
by three shots over Stanford
University's Casey Danielson,
who finished as first alternate
at 154.

eigh Klasse and Olivia Herrick tied Sarah Burnham and
Raelyn Spears for first place at the MWPGA Four-Ball
Championship at Tanners Brook Golf Course on May 16. Burnham
and Spears took the defending champs extra holes before
losing to Herrick and Klasse at the third playoff hole.

Peterson/Johnson Triumph
at MPGA Four-Ball
A
spectacular back-nine finish,
including six birdies,
cemented the MPGA Four-Ball Championship for the
team of Trent Peterson and JT Johnson on May 17 at Rum River
Hills Golf Course. The duo's two-round total of 129 (13-underpar)
was good for a three-stroke win over three teams tied at 132.
